Ongoing Heatwave Warning in Korea: Latest Updates, Forecast, and Safety Tips

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) announced on the 30th that the heatwave warning issued for virtually the entire country, excluding some mountainous parts of Jeju Island, is still in effect.

In the case of Incheon, on the 28th, a heat wave warning was issued in areas other than Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun, and it continues to this day. A heat wave warning was issued in Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun.

In addition, yesterday (29th), the temperature that rose during the day did not go down, so there were many places where tropical nights (night temperature of 25 degrees or more) appeared, mainly in downtown and coastal areas, but Incheon also recorded 25.4 ℃.

There will be places where showers come in Jeju Island in the afternoon, the central region (excluding the east coast of Gangwon), the inland of Jeonbuk, the inland of Jeonnam, the inland of Gyeongsang, and the south coast by night. Showers are expected to come strongly around 30mm per hour accompanied by gusts, thunder and lightning.

The temperature will drop slightly with the shower, but once the rain stops, the temperature will rise quickly and become hot.

The Korea Meteorological Administration advised to refrain from outdoor activities as much as possible and to avoid working at outdoor workplaces between 2 and 5 p.m.
