The new aspiring broadcaster Ongehoord Nederland has 50,000 members. Founder Arnold Karskens announced this on Friday Twitter.
“Hooray! The 50,000 members have been reached, broadcaster Ongehoord Nederland is going to Hilversum. Thanks to all members and volunteers. Without you it would never have been possible”, the 66-year-old reporter writes in his message.
The news will be officially announced in the Saturday Zwarte Pietenjournaal on the broadcaster’s website. In it, sympathizers Geert Wilders (PVV) and Thierry Baudet (FVD) will be thanked by a Zwarte Piet for their efforts and there will be a Sinterklaas who will also become a ‘member’ of the broadcaster, Karskens tells the AD.
The broadcaster was founded last year and mainly wants to offer a platform to right-wing voters in the Netherlands. In this way Karskens wants to make a critical voice about immigration. He also wants to stick to the traditional variant of Zwarte Piet.
The next step for the broadcaster is to show the policy plans to the Media Authority and the Culture Council. These will determine whether the broadcaster offers sufficient added value to the public broadcasting system.
