Oppo and OnePlus have finally officially merged into one, with OnePlus set to be a part sub-brand from Oppo.
The two brands are owned by BBK Electronics, and have collaborated several times for development hardware and software in each product.
Information, OnePlus founders Pete Lau and Carl Pei previously worked together at Oppo. Lau, who is CEO of OnePlus, acted as Oppo’s chief product officer in May 2020.
“Since then, we have integrated a number of OnePlus teams with Oppo to streamline operations and leverage shared resources,” Lau wrote on the forum. Engadget, Thursday (17/6/2021).
With this merger process, OnePlus will get additional resources to develop better products, according to Lau.
“In addition, we can bring updates software which is faster and more stable for OnePlus users,” he wrote.
Although OnePlus is now under Oppo’s umbrella, Lau said it will continue to operate independently. OnePlus will be releasing products and holding its own events, and will continue to interact with customers face-to-face.
