Almost two months after the launch of its new high-end smartphone in China, the manufacturer OnePlus is launching the OnePlus 12 in Europe. With a major surprise: the deployment of the R range outside the Chinese and Indian markets.
The season for new smartphones has started. After Xiaomi’s Redmi 13 Pro or Samsung’s Galaxy 24, it’s the turn of Chinese OnePlus to lift the veil on its new flagship. This year again, no Pro version is available.
A choice that the brand justifies like this: “a smartphone does not need to be ‘Plus’, ‘Pro’ or ‘Ultra’ to offer the best hardware specifications and the best software experience”. But the OnePlus 12 does not arrive alone, the Chinese manufacturer is in fact launching for OnePlus 12R and Europe.
Note also that the OnePlus 12 marks the 10th anniversary of the brand. A true summary of OnePlus know-how.
OnePlus 12
The new high-end representative of the brand once again has everything it takes to compete with the giants of the sector. The OnePlus 12 does not have to be ashamed of the competition, in particular thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor coupled with 12 or 16 GB of RAM or a 2K 120Hz ProXDR screen with a peak brightness of 4500nits which reminiscent of the OnePlus Open, the brand’s first foldable smartphone.
We will also note its battery with a capacity of 5400 mAh and its 100 W SuperVOOC charger always supplied with the phone which allows a recharge from 1 to 100% in just 26 minutes.
Finally, on the photo side, the OnePlus 12 marks the 4th generation of the manufacturer’s collaboration with photography expert Hasselblad. The smartphone thus features a “Sony LYT-808 wide-angle sensor, a first in the industry, a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x periscope, the latest RAW HDR algorithm and Hasselblad portrait mode, which offers a camera experience effortless pro-level photography.”
OnePlus 12R
“We are incredibly excited to introduce the OnePlus 12 series to disrupt the industry status quo,” said Pete Lau, Founder of OnePlus, Senior Vice President and Head of Product at OPPO and OnePlus. The manufacturer thus reaffirms its philosophy of offering high-performance products at affordable prices, which is particularly the case with the OnePlus 12R.
The R range is in fact presented as “a concentrate of performance which combines fast and fluid software with cutting-edge hardware” and is aimed primarily at gamers. The OnePlus 12R thus incorporates the best elements of the OnePlus 12, while making a few concessions to lower the rating.
This does not prevent him from boarding an LTPO 4.0 screen, a first on a global scale. This screen “features an intelligent dynamic refresh system that allows the OnePlus 12R to switch from a refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz faster and smarter than ever, saving battery and ‘offer users a smoother overall experience’.
