OnePlus stops official support for OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T – Tablets and phones – News

OnePlus has stopped supporting the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. The last official update for the phones was rolled out to users in December. The OnePlus 6 came out in May 2018 and the 6T appeared six months later.

OnePlus announced the end of official support for the two devices recently in a forum post. “After three major upgrades and more than three years of updates, it is now time to close a chapter and announce the end of the OnePlus 6 and 6T official software support,” the manufacturer wrote.

In early December, the company released OxygenOS 11.1.2.2 for the two phones and OnePlus now confirms that it was the latest update. That update included the November 2021 Android security patch. The phone will not receive any new security updates from the manufacturer in the future, nor will it be updated to new Android versions.

The OnePlus 6T has been updated by OnePlus for over three years and the OnePlus 6 has received updates for more than 3.5 years. The former came with Android 9.0, while the OnePlus 6 came with Android 8.1 at launch. Both devices now run on Android 11.
