OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, is quietly rolling out artificial intelligence (AI) features for its OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12 models. While there was no mention of these features during the global launch of the OnePlus 12, Reddit user milkyteapls and Android Authority contributor Mishaal Rahman tipped off the arrival of these AI tools in China.
It is important to note that the Chinese models of OnePlus phones run on Color OS, while global models use Oxygen OS. However, the difference between the two operating systems is minimal. The latest Color OS 14 update brings new AI tools to the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12.
One of the notable AI features is the “AI Summarizer.” This tool generates call summaries by extracting key information such as times, places, and action items from phone calls. It is worth mentioning that this feature differs from Samsung’s Galaxy AI, which focuses on summarizing documents, websites, and notes. OnePlus’ AI Summarizer is specifically designed for summarizing phone call recordings.
In addition to the AI Summarizer, OnePlus is introducing a separate article summarization tool. With just one tap, users can extract essential information from articles. This feature aims to make it easier for users to access key details without having to read through lengthy articles.
Furthermore, OnePlus is launching the “AIGC Remover,” an intelligent photo editing tool that allows users to remove unwanted objects or people from photos. This feature bears similarities to the Magic Eraser found on Pixel phones and Samsung’s new AI editing tool.
Apart from these OnePlus-specific AI features, Color OS is also receiving other AI enhancements. One of them is AI Environmental Sound Cancelation, which reduces background noise during phone calls.
It remains uncertain when these updates will be available for global OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12 models. However, users are advised to keep an eye on their review units for any potential updates in the near future.
OnePlus’ move to incorporate AI features into their smartphones reflects the growing trend of AI integration in the smartphone industry. As AI technology continues to advance, it is likely that more smartphone manufacturers will follow suit and introduce their own AI tools and capabilities. These features not only enhance user experience but also showcase the potential of AI in various aspects of our daily lives.
