OnePlus Nord Buds has no app, nor any form of noise cancellation. But they have paid for the AAC codec, which provides better sound than the Sub Band codec that is standard for Bluetooth. With IP55 water protection, they can withstand more moisture than most, and also dust.
Despite Bluetooth version 5.2, there is no multipoint function, so you can only be connected to one device at a time.
The sound of OnePlus Nord Buds
OnePlus Nord Buds costs little, but still offers a good sound experience. A slightly extra spicy bass, with fullness the right places that add a little extra guff to Florence + the Machines small rock Dream Girl Evil. It is perceived as well-balanced in the sound, and even jazz works well here because it has the sound layers that Urbanears Boo Tip lacks. The sound is not really that different, but there is more air at the top. There is a little extra energy in the upper midrange here, but not so that it feels sharp.

It is quite clear that OnePlus has used AirPods Pro as a template, yet Buds Pro is so successful that they deserve to be seen as something of their own.

That Nord Buds provides such a much better experience than Urbanear’s Boo Tip is attributed to the fact that OnePlus has actually paid for the AAC codec. When I switch to SBC in Developer settings on an Android mobile (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3) it sounds very similar – only with flatter stereo sound and without any magic in the overtones. The reverb is larger with AAC, which makes the music more interesting.
The speech quality is clear through these, no problems for the other party to hear what you are saying. The noise reduction also works well enough in daily life. All in all, an impressive earplug, considering how little it costs.
