OnePlus adds multipoint support to Buds Pro earbuds – Picture and sound – News

OnePlus has started distributing an update that allows multi-device connectivity on the Buds Pro earbuds. The earbuds came out in September and OnePlus has been promising the update ever since.

OnePlus calls the feature Dual Connection and says this is in firmware version 531. Users of a OnePlus phone can switch on the function in the settings. Users of other Android devices must use the HeyMelody app to activate the feature.

When the feature is on, users can pair the earbuds with two devices at the same time. The Buds Pro play audio from the device that is playing media. It’s still unclear whether the Buds Pro will pick up audio from a phone’s voice calls when a user is listening to audio from another device.

The Buds Pro came out in August. The earphones have 11mm drivers and three microphones for active noise cancellation. OnePlus calls its version ‘smart adaptive noise cancellation‘ because the microphones listen in on the environment and then automatically make adjustments to the noise reduction with counter-noise. That counter-noise can be 15 to 40dB.
