The new top of the line OnePlus will hit the market in March 2021. The teasers about the smartphone continue to attract a lot of attention from enthusiasts, especially in terms of photography. Pete Lau, CEO of the company, released on his Twitter two images taken with Sony lenses, IMX789 (main and customized) and IMX766 (ultrawide), which will equip the OnePlus 9 Pro.
The images were taken with different configurations: on the left, the main sensor was used; on the right, ultrawide lenses. In both cases, the result is quite surprising. However, a noticeable color difference between the photos is noticeable. OnePlus is expected to solve this small problem before launching the 9 Pro. Check it out:

The Sony IMX789 sensor was designed specifically for the OnePlus 9 and its Hasselblad quality certified cameras. Among its capabilities are 4K videos at 120FPS, native dual ISO, full-pixel omni-directonal autofocus and real-time HDR video processing.
–
In addition, this unique sensor will still have Sony’s DOL-HDR, which is the Digital HDR with Overlay, which helps to remove traces of moving objects when capturing various exposures in very high quality.
–
The other video released by OnePlus on Weibo, intends to show how the new sensor distorts images in ultra wide-angle cameras much less. In the IMX789 the distortion is 1%, whereas until now this value has varied between 10% and 20%.
See the difference between a common sensor with greater distortion and the Sony IMX89:
–
The system presented uses 2 cameras, with two prisms redirecting the light at an angle of 90 degrees. The system that processes the image joins the two captures in one with an opening of 140 degrees with almost no distortions.
–
Another important point is that the IMX789 supports up to 16:11 aspect ratios, so it can switch between 4: 3 and 16: 9 modes for photos and videos respectively. There is also support for 12-bit RAW and Hasselblad technology that makes colors more true to reality.
–
Speaking of selfies, the Sony IMX789 has a new autofocus system that is between 5 and 10 times faster, focusing on objects in just 1 millisecond with a minimum distance of 15cm and object tracking.
