Dnipropetrovsk region governor Valentyn Reznichenko says four were killed in the attack and 13 injured. Four of them were children.

“Rescuers managed to recover the body of a child aged between one and one and a half years from the ruins under the building which was destroyed by a Russian rocket,” says the governor.

The rocket that hit the building was one of about 16 that hit Ukraine on Friday. In total, according to Ukraine, about 76 rockets were fired. Most of them were shot down by anti-aircraft systems.

Reznichenko says Russian attacks continued throughout the evening and into the night until Saturday. The feeder was damaged in several areas.

Big attack

At the same time, 596 miners were stuck underground after the attacks on Kryvyi Rih but have now come out.

Friday’s attack was one of the largest since the war began. About 40 rockets were fired at the capital Kiev, but most were shot down, according to authorities.

In Kherson, a 36-year-old man who was sitting in the car was killed. The partially liberated region was hit by several rockets and one of them hit a nursing home, according to the local governor.

On Saturday, the Ukrainian authorities again had to work hard to restore electricity to the affected areas. Power outages are crucial in a freezing Ukraine.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said on Saturday that two-thirds of households in the capital now had electricity restored and everyone had access to water. Even the subway is back in operation.

Putin at a meeting in Moscow

In the region around Kiev, half of the residents were still without electricity on Saturday afternoon. Governor Oleksiy Kuleba says rain and snow cause icing on power lines, making it difficult to fix faults.

Russia, for its part, says Friday’s attacks were successful and were aimed at critical infrastructure. According to Russia, high-precision missiles were used in the attack.

On Saturday, the Kremlin was more concerned with talking about the new EU sanctions package. Moscow’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova calls it an illegal and authoritarian move by the EU.

It is also confirmed that President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with defense chiefs on Friday to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

The meeting took place after Friday’s attack and discussed Russia’s short- and medium-term strategy in Ukraine.
