It was March 14, 2020, when Virginia had its first COVID-19 death.
On March 14, 2021, a year later, Governor Ralph Northam had flags flown at half-staff to honor and remember all Virginians whose lives were lost to the pandemic. Sadly, on that same day as we honoring those who had died, the state reported we had surpassed 10,000 deaths in Virginia connected to COVID.
