The One-two pass (Sport 1) discussed heatedly: How should the German national team deal with the next early exit and the national coach change.

An unpopular opinion from expert Mario Basler sparked the heated debate. His opinion: Germany is well advised to keep the ball flat when setting the goal for the 2022 World Cup.
“We have been playing catastrophic football since 2018. And next year we should be world champions again ”, rages the polarizing ex-professional.
Basler: “The quality is no longer up-to-date”
His recommendation: According to Joachim Löw, the DFB team needs a transition phase – also to find a new coach and a young player.

“The quality is no longer up-to-date”, Basler states toughly and pleads for a comprehensive upheaval, which, however, needs time.
In order to position the national team well in the long term, they should compete in the tournament without the pressure of the title. “Invite the U21 European champions to a David Raum, Ridle Baku and Lukas Nmecha 2022 the chance to gain experience,” recommends Basler. “The EM 2024 in your own country – that must be the big goal.”
