– It was like any other day. The storm was far away. We were on the boat, everything was fine. And then, in an instant, everything changed. There was nothing normal, no instructions on what to do.
The former actor told Jon Evans, on the “1 on 1 with Jon Evans” podcast.
According to local authorities, Friend was found on a boat after being struck by lightning during a storm near Masonboro Island off the coast of Wilmington in the United States.
Found dead on the street
On the summer day of the tragic accident, the couple were at sea with their boat, near Masonboro Island, North Carolina.
In the podcast, Prince said that when Friend was struck by lightning, he was right next to another boat with a nurse on board.
Friend was immediately rescued and they were able to quickly move his body to a nearby police boat.
In pain
Hanover County Police officers gave life-saving first aid and tried to revive him for 20 minutes, but eventually had to realize that his life was beyond recovery.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
– In my head, there was absolutely nothing more we could do. And I have to accept that this is bigger than me and my understanding of how something like this can happen,” Prince continued on the podcast.
