“Compared to January, approximately 30 percent less entities recorded sales in October,” said Klára Křehlová from the press department of the Financial Administration. Specifically, in January there were 125,732 entrepreneurs, while in October 88,690.
The same decrease can be observed in the total number of registered sales. If last year entrepreneurs recorded 4.3 billion sales, by the end of November this year it was three billion. A significant decline occurred especially in April and November, when the closure of restaurants and shops became fully apparent.
The obligation to register is to start again together with the third and fourth waves in two years, ie more than a year after the next parliamentary elections. “It is certain that the last phase of EET will be handled by another government, we do not oppose the complete abolition of the last phases,” said Miroslav Diro, a spokesman for the Chamber of Commerce. According to some analysts and representatives of the opposition, the postponement of records amounts to its actual abolition.

Switching off EET
The postponement of electronic records of sales was also recorded by providers of cash register systems. “Roughly 40 percent of our active clients still issue receipts with FIK codes,” says Petr Menclík, director of Dotykačka, which supplies the cash register to 18,000 entrepreneurs. “Those who were interested in turning off fiscalization did so in the spring, most often during May. In the autumn, it was only units of percent, “he added.
The rival company Storyous, which supplies cash register systems to around 3,000 restaurants, has also seen a decline. “Gastro companies, which had hungry windows open in the lockdown, which is on average about half, did not turn off mass records in any way. Approximately ten percent of all receipts were issued without records, “said the company’s head Igor Třeslín.
Postponement of the third and fourth waves
However, many cash register providers are counting losses due to the postponement of the third and fourth waves of records, which were supposed to involve craftsmen, doctors, hairdressers or taxi drivers. “We had contracted traders, bought supplies, paid for media campaigns, prepared a number of new functions for craftsmen and entrepreneurs in the field of services,” says Menclík, according to whom the costs climbed to tens of millions of crowns. “So postponing EET at the last minute was a significant intervention for the company’s economy,” added Dotykačka’s boss.

Storyous, which focuses exclusively on gastronomic establishments, on the other hand, was not affected by the postponement. “The closure of restaurants for our business was a much more sensitive blow than the postponement of EET,” said the owner of the Třeslín company.
Market consolidation
Larger companies in the cash register system market agree that a two-year delay does not mean the end of business, because their cash registers include complex systems through which invoices can be stored, the warehouse managed or, for example, communication between kitchen and restaurant managed. According to companies, this is the reason why many entrepreneurs still have cash registers. Although the EET function can usually be turned off, many of them are used to it and therefore let it run.
However, many small businesses may end up. “There are a lot of primitive cheap solutions, some created especially for the third and fourth wave, and now it turns out that it was money thrown out the window,” points out Třeslín. “In the current situation, market consolidation will be inevitable. Especially smaller players focused purely on EET will not withstand such a long delay, “adds Menclík.
