On the second and last day in which the general practitioners of Ulss 3 have engaged in home vaccination of people over 80 bedridden, and therefore unable to go to the hubs scattered throughout the territory, there is some good news. Of those that show – hopefully – a light at the end of the tunnel.
Good news on the vaccine front
After the green light from Ema (European Medicines Agency), the first Janssen vaccines, the subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson which officially becomes the fourth operator on the Italian vaccine market, after Pfizer Biontech, Moderna and AstraZeneca. The doses have not yet been divided among the various health companies, but the Ulss 3 should be entitled to between 2 thousand and 2500.
The second good news concerns Pfizer, which has decided for the next 4 weeks to allocate to Italy a third of doses more than the latest supplies. This means that the Serenissima company will be able to count on over 21 thousand doses of serum per week instead of 16 thousand, going from about 64 thousand to the nearly 85 thousand expected over the next month.
Unforeseen events and denials are always around the corner, but adding to the standard supply over 5 thousand doses more a week of Pfizer (in fact a day full of vaccinations) and combining the less regular and consistent loads of AstraZeneca and Moderna and the J&J vaccine, whose supply forecasts are not known but which allows the vaccination cycle to be completed with a single injection, the immunization campaign could really have reached a turning point. It must also be said that with this number of doses, it will not be possible to cross the finish line of the 6 thousand daily vaccinations that Ulss 3 would be able to guarantee, but it is still more arrows in the quiver. In the meantime, in the last 24 hours (data referred to 23.59 on 21 April) the company has administered 3,672 doses of the vaccine, bringing the total, between first and second doses, to 175,618.
Sunday experimental day at the drive in of Oriago
The adaptation works of the exchange car park at the Oriago Porta Ovest station where the vaccination stations will be set up in drive-in mode are in the pipeline. Today, dedicated to mowing, there was a further inspection to assess the progress of the adaptation interventions. Also on the weekend thefloating clinic set up inside an Actv vaporetto. The operators of the health care company, in fact, will arrive again in Burano and Pellestrina to complete the vaccination cycle of the elderly who were given the first dose on the last weekend of March. It is possible that the same vessel will also reach Sant’Erasmo and the Lido in the following weeks, with the same task.
After the closure of the Hub at Terminal 103 della Marittima last week, Ulss 3 announced that all the people residing in the historic center of Venice who received their first administration at Tronchetto – a few hundred in all – will not be diverted to the Pala Expo to receive the second and last dose, but they can go to piazzale Roma, at the Sondrio bank headquarters (they will be notified with a phone call or via text message).
