The shots were fired at one o’clock in the morning local time (CET morning) on the campus of Grambling, Northern Louisiana. The man who died in the shooting did not attend school. Among the seven injured was one university student.

The shooting took place during the annual gathering of students. The university canceled the rest of the planned events as well as Monday and Tuesday classes. A curfew is valid on campus from 21:30 until six o’clock in the morning. The school said it would strengthen security.

Just four days earlier, one person had died and three others had been injured in the shooting, which also took place on the school premises. Louisiana police said the two cases did not appear to be related. Police suspect 18-year-old Jatavious Carroll of Wednesday’s attack. She did not disclose any details about the attacker on Sunday morning.
