Both police and prosecutors are silent the day after the murder in Södermalm. But the police confirm that there are several people detained for some kind of involvement in the murder.
– Several people have been arrested, says Ola Österling, press spokesperson at the Stockholm police, to SVT.
Prosecutor Marina Chirakova tells SVT:
– One or more people are detained in the case. More than that I cannot comment.
Neither police nor prosecutors want to say how many of those detained are or how they are suspected of being involved.
The police tell TT that they have a good picture of the sequence of events and that they are mapping the murder victim. According to them, there are no signs that it is a misfire.
Shooting in Söder
It was on Monday that the police received a call about gunfire at 6:20 p.m., and several people are said to have witnessed the shooting. A witness tells SVT that six to eight shots were heard at Helgalunden on Södermalm.
The police stated later in the evening that the man who was shot, who is in his 40s, died at the scene. A preliminary investigation into murder has been opened.
The person shot should be a man with gang connections, according to information given to SVT. But the police do not want to comment on gang connections or possible motives.
– It is far too early to say whether it is connected to gang crime or not, says Daniel Wikdahl.
“Nice that so many were there”
SVT Stockholm has spoken to a person who lives right next to the crime scene.
– I live 50 meters away and ran downstairs with a blanket and a first-aid kit. It was so nice to see that there were so many people who were already there and did life-saving efforts, says a witness.
The witness says he was completely shaken afterwards.
– It was unpleasant, because this happened in the middle of the day near the subway where a lot of people move. This is otherwise a safe area. At the same time, it is sad wherever the shootings take place in society.
