The sector wage subsidy could not help the micro-enterprises and self-employed operating without an employee, therefore the government decided to provide a one-time subsidy of HUF 219 thousand to the 100-120 thousand self-employed and micro-enterprises affected by the previous restrictions.
If we count on 110,000 subsidies, the measure will cost the Hungarian budget a gross HUF 24 billion, which is not a significant item, and it will come in time when most self-employed people can start working again, as the restrictions have ended. At the same time, many will surely benefit from the money unexpectedly offered.
Compensatory support for the self-employed is mainly available to entrepreneurs in the retail, tourism, hospitality or leisure sectors who have not been able to apply for sectoral wage subsidies due to a lack of employees. The easy-to-fill, one-page application will soon be available on the government’s website and at munka.hu. Applications can be submitted to the employment departments of the district offices until the end of the emergency.
