One of Ubisoft’s studios would save Anno 2070!

The French publisher has finally revealed when it wants to say more about its games (while today it’s about Skull & Bones, so the rumor about it was true).

A few days ago, we wrote about the fact that in September the online services of several games will be terminated by Ubisoft (which also makes the DLCs unavailable in some cases). But Ubisoft Mainz, which developed Anno 2070, doesn’t want its game to end up in the digital graveyard (after all, it’s one of the titles that are about to be closed). The studio responded shortly after the French publisher’s announcement case.

After preliminary investigations, Ubisoft Mainz decided that they would allocate some of their development resources to upgrade Anno 2070’s aging online infrastructure to a new system, so that the online section of their game would be able to survive even after the mentioned date (first of September)… but they they themselves cannot guarantee that they can successfully update or replace the old services according to their plans. (If fans were able to get back online years after the Batman: Arkham Origins servers were shot down, let’s trust the German developers!)

Anno 2070 was released on November 17, 2011, so we can talk about a game that is more than ten years old, but the lifespan of strategy games is not like that of a sports game that comes out every year: after the release, there are many people who still buy them years later! Several people on Steam are negative about Ubisoft’s announcement with evaluation they have seen the game, but so many have not yet that this is a blatant case.

The French publisher announced that today, at eight in the evening Hungarian time, the YouTubewill give a new presentation to Skull & Bones, but let’s count on Ubisoft beyond that. There will be one Ubisoft Forward also, precisely on September 10 at nine o’clock in the evening. This YouTube-on, Twitchand the French publisher on website we can watch. We don’t know what to expect. Maybe Assassin’s Creed: Infinity, but then there’s The Division: Heartland (also leaked), Splinter Cell remake, Beyond Good & Evil 2, but maybe Ghost Recon Frontline , Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, maybe Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora also deserve some airtime…
