One of the two cyclists hit by a car in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, died

QUEBEC CITY — One of the two cyclists hit by a car on Saturday evening in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, near Plessisville in Centre-du-Québec, has passed away.

The victim is a 29-year-old woman whose identity has not yet been released. The 30-year-old man accompanying him was also injured in the collision, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Route 265.

“According to initial information, the two cyclists were traveling on Route 265 North. The two were hit by a vehicle driven by a 45-year-old man,” said information officer Nicolas Scholtus, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The two cyclists were transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries, but there is no fear for the life of the man.

The woman succumbed to her injuries a few hours after arriving at the hospital.

An accident reconstruction specialist from the SQ went to the scene to analyze the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was interviewed by investigators.

No hypothesis was favored to explain the drama.

The SQ investigation is continuing.
