The fiancés Lyulyuzim and Medina, survivors of the fiery hell in the bus that burned on the Struma Motorway, spoke to BNT about the horror they experienced. The 26-year-old man is the one who found a way out of the situation and thus saved the only survivors.
“It all happened in seconds,” Luluzim said.
“It was late and everyone was asleep. I was asleep too. My fiancé woke me up and broke the glass. Then he went downstairs. I couldn’t see. I could only hear his voice,” Medina said.
24 hours after the nightmare and despite the severe pain from the burns, Lyulyuzim and Medina are visibly calm. The two fiancés are among the few survivors. Medina has no voice after the fire.
“There was a man behind me who was pushing me. He was trying to save himself. Then I managed to get up. I went out the window. Allah protected us. The bus hit,” the young woman said.
According to her, it was then that the fire broke out.
The ambulance arrived in 4 minutes, she recalls.
“This year we got engaged. We will get married soon. We were on a trip to Istanbul. We had a lot of fun there,” Medina told national television.
