A pair of members of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) were injured during a confrontation in La Campiña, in the capital of Sinaloa, one of them died in the hospital, the Army confirmed.
It was during the early hours of Monday, September 9, that clashes between armed civilians were reported in Culiacán. The situation of violence was confirmed by Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, who in a first report, shortly before 9:00 in the morning, confirmed that two military agents were injured.
For her part, Senator Paloma Sánchez shared her position on the death of the Army agent through social media. “I regret the sensitive death of the army officer who fulfilled his duty today to protect citizens from the violent events in #Culiacán,” the PRI politician wrote on Monday afternoon.

The deceased uniformed officer was identified as César Augusto, 42 years old, according to El Sol de Sinaloa, and initial reports indicate that he was attacked in the face with a firearm, for which he was undergoing medical surgery.
While the other Army member who was injured remains under medical examination at the ISSSTE, Daniel S. is the uniformed officer who is being examined by doctors because he was injured in his left leg.
“We have finished a tour of the ISSSTE Regional Hospital, here in Culiacán and they report that a military man with a firearm wounds died on the face, and the second military is still in the operating room, it is being treated, stabilizing the fracture product of the impact,” were part of the statements of Cuitláhuac González Galindo, Secretary of Health of Sinaloa, collected by the local press.
As a result of the violent events in Sinaloa, a man has been arrested and 12 vehicles have been seized, two near the La Campiña sector and a dozen more in the municipality of Costa Rica.
“A civilian was arrested, as well as 10 vehicles that were found abandoned and with multiple gunshot wounds. It was determined that one of the vehicles is armored,” the Sinaloa government said Monday afternoon.

The death of a civilian was confirmed by the Sinaloa prosecutor, Claudia Zulema Sánchez Kondo, who detailed that the deceased was a male inside a car on the Mexico 15 International Highway, although it is not known if said death would be related to the violent activities in La Campiña.
With the aim of maintaining security in Sinaloa, aerial vehicles from the National Guard arrived.
Meanwhile, in reports shared on social media, it can be seen that some streets in Culiacán were empty after the violent events, even the graphic material shows little movement of cars and according to a count by the authorities in the last few hours, a dozen vehicles have been snatched from their owners.

“Since last night and Monday morning, there have been reports of 12 vehicle thefts at different points in the city. Authorities from all three levels of government are maintaining security patrols to ensure the safety of the people of Sinaloa,” the Government of Sinaloa said.
The situation also caused classes to be suspended in Culiacán and Elota, as well as in Costa Rica.
