Six fields, one with covered grandstands on an area of more than 8 hectares are the basic parameters of the football academy, which will grow in Košice in 2024.
Its creation is the result of the cooperation of FC Košice with the city, while it will be located in the city district Nad Jazerom. Construction will begin in January 2023, with completion scheduled for the second quarter of 2024.
“When FC Košice was founded four years ago, we had a dream to create a football academy. This dream comes true. However, to meet it, we had to meet our friends, and the cooperation we started with them in 2020 is reaping the benefits. On behalf of all the children, I would like to thank them for this project, which at the moment may not be fully appreciated at the moment, but in the future Košice football will certainly benefit from it. By completing the complete infrastructure, we will rightly become one of the leaders in youth football in Slovakia and the surrounding region, ” said the president of FC Košice Dušan Trnka.
The construction envisages six large playgrounds, two of which will be artificial grass and one will be heated. In addition, the complex will include two smaller playgrounds.
The Academy will not be in close proximity to the home stand of FC Košice – Košice Football Arena, but in a place that is approximately 5 km away from it. It is an unused area of the former panel shop between the tram turnout on Važecká Street in the Nad jazerom housing estate and the FK Krásna Stadium.

“This space ultimately met all the criteria we required. Its price was an important criterion, as prices in the city center jumped to dizzying heights. We have partners from Hungary for this investment, but we still had to take the price into account. “
It should be one of the most modern football academies in Central Europe. “In terms of the quality of the playgrounds, their number or overall background will meet the highest criteria,” he noted Trnka.
The financing will be the responsibility of the Hungarian partners of FC Košice, who were represented by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FC Košice Gergely Sántha: “We plan to start building the academy in the first half of 2023, and if everything goes according to plan, we will hand over a new state-of-the-art training center at the highest level in the second quarter of 2024.”
The construction budget should be around EUR 4 million.
