After a long illness, Ignat Dimitrov, a long-time radio host and one of the most recognizable voices in the Bulgarian-language programs of Radio Bulgaria, has died, BNR reported.
For more than 35 years, his voice was also heard on the “Horizon” program, every day after 3:00 p.m., with “information about the level of the Danube in centimeters”.
Over the years, Jiri, as he was fondly called by his colleagues, has been an editor, presenter, translator from Russian and announcer of films. For three decades, his voice has been part of the identification signal of Radio Bulgaria’s broadcasts in Bulgarian. With exceptional precision and impeccable intonation, Jiri also communicated the air frequencies on which Radio Bulgaria could be heard all over the world. His colleagues will also remember him for his incredible sense of humor, which managed to make us “smile” even in the busiest moments.
The pilgrimage is on February 1 at 1:30 p.m. in the capital church “St. Sedmochiselnitsi”
The “Maritsa” team expresses its condolences to the relatives of Ignat Dimitrov.
Rest in peace!
