One of the large wooden sculptures in Woodland Park collapsed. What will happen to them now?

The wooden sculpture is more than 50 years old

There is a problem in Russia’s Lesovodov Park – the large wooden statues have disappeared, one of the sculptures has shrunk and fallen completely. The resident of Ekaterinburg Nadezhda Sevastyanova talked about this on her Facebook page (terrorist organization whose activities are prohibited on the territory ofgate-

– I was in the Russian Foresters Park in March. Then, because of the snow, it was not possible to approach the wooden sculptures. And I knew for sure that I would return to them. “Today I went with the desire to look at these creations from Herodotus to the present,” wrote Nadezhda Sevastyanova.

I wanted to enjoy the most beautiful creations, but I came to die, abandoned, almost destroying monuments of human incompetence.

The five-meter wooden sculptures were made by artist Valery Gavrilov in the 1970s. Idols (also known as idols) are associated with Ural mythology.

The idol albums are also not in the best condition.

Historian and tour guide Tatyana Mosunova is sounding the alarm. In her Telegram channel, she said that she had already written letters about this matter to the Museum of Fine Arts, the Department of Culture and the Tourist Information Service of Yekaterinburg.

– We have to do something. I read earlier that the Museum of Fine Arts wanted to remove them because of their artistic value, but it seems we have to hurry,” wrote Tatyana Mosunova.

Note that Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts had plans to take the wooden statues under protection and transport the sculptures to the city center, but they abandoned them. Mayakovsky Park is the new home of the sculptures, but it is not yet clear when they will be moved.

“According to the plan, they will move to the park, we will bring them back and we will bring them back,” answered the park’s press service E1.RU, clarifying that there are no specific dates yet.

The most famous and oldest wooden sculpture in the world is held in Yekaterinburg. The Shigir idol was raised to the surface 134 years ago, on February 5, 1890. At the beginning of 2024, we remembered how and who is now making money from it.

In the spring, we wrote about a resident of Yekaterinburg who created an unusual image in honor of the vowel letter “y”.
