One of the discoverers of the HIV virus dies

Scientist Frenchman Luc Montaagnier, who won the Nobel prize in medicine for co-discovery HIV virus which causes AIDSdied at the age of 89 on Tuesday (8/2).

He died at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine northwest of central Paris.

The sad news was previously conveyed by the newspapers Francesoir and Liberation. The news was later confirmed by the mayor of Paris Jean-Christophe Fromantin.

Fromantin said he had a death certificate.

Montagnier shared the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with his colleague Francoise Barre-Sinoussi. The Nobel Prize is awarded for discoveries virus human immunodeficiency (HIV) which triggers AIDS.

Despite his great achievements, he was alienated from the scientific community afterwards. It came after he took a different position, especially against the use of vaccines.
