A 1965 record autographed by the Beatles at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool was sold at auction this week to the highest bidder. The rare find fetched an impressive £10,000 at the Anderson & Garland Auction auction.

It is reported that there are fewer than 100 originals of the “Help!” record in existence worldwide, which feature the autographs of all Beatles members. The copy now being auctioned was offered by a widow from Durham, whose late husband had owned the record for around 25 years.
The seller is quoted as saying, “I recently decided it was time to pass this special piece of music history on to another fan who would appreciate it as much as my husband.”
“I was very shy to ask George for his signature”
The signed record was offered for auction with proof of provenance and sales history. A letter from the original owner (who owned the record until 1989) confirms that it was signed by the band at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool in 1965.
The letter also shows that it was the original owner himself who asked the stars for their signatures. “I was very shy about asking George for his signature because he was in an intense conversation with someone,” it says.
“But when he put the pen to the table, he fulfilled one of my dreams at the time, which was to get the Beatles’ autograph. John and Ringo signed above their names, Paul and George below,” the letter continued. Wow.
