ONTARIO, iNews.id – One family muslim consisting of four people died after being hit by a man named Nathaniel Veltman (20), Sunday (6/6/2021), in London, Ontario, Canada. The police said the motive for the perpetrator’s crashing with his pickup vehicle was hatred of Islam.
Veltmen drove his vehicle into the sidewalk with the motive of killing the family. There are five victims, one is still being treated.
The perpetrator, who is a local resident, was immediately arrested after the incident in the mall parking lot without a fight. He was wearing a bulletproof vest at the time.
He was charged with four counts of first -degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
“There is evidence that this was a premeditated action, motivated by hatred. We believe the victims were targeted because they are Muslims,” said London police official Paul Waight, quoted by Reuters on Tuesday (8/6/2021).
London Police are in consultation with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Attorney General’s Office to indict Veltmen on charges terrorism.
The search results show that Veltmen has no criminal record and is not involved with any hate groups. In addition, there is no evidence that he acted in a group, but alone.
