Manchester City defeat Sporting CP 5-0 in the first leg of last 16 Champions League. One leg of The Citizens is now in the quarterfinals.
The Sporting vs Man City match will take place at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Wednesday (16/2/2022) early in the morning WIB. Pep Guardiola’s troops were in control of the game with possession of the ball reaching 60%.
City are already leading 4-0 in the first half. The visitors’ goals were created by Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva (two goals), and Phil Foden.
Manchester Blue still appear dominant in the second half. They added one goal through Raheem Sterling’s kick from outside the penalty box.
“We expected a tough game and that’s what we got. The result was very positive for us, but it doesn’t take away the difficulties we felt. It’s not easy to play against Sporting, there are still 90 minutes to play, and our concentration has to be the same,” said the Man captain. City, Ruben Dias.

On paper, it is impossible for Sporting CP to turn things around in the second leg. The Portuguese club need a 6-0 win at the Etihad Stadium on March 9, 2022 to keep going.
