Bolzano/Bologna – A tragic fall in the mountains cost the life of a nurse from Bologna. Valentina Fino fell about 100 meters in the Apennines in the area of Reggio Emilia. The 31-year-old was also well known in Bolzano because she worked in the hospital there during the Corona pandemic.
The accident occurred on Saturday around 4 p.m. The young woman was out with her partner, who had filmed her shortly before and published the video on her Facebook profile.
In front of her partner’s eyes, the 31-year-old slipped down a steep, rocky gully and fell about 100 meters. As Alto Adige online reports, the exact circumstances have yet to be clarified.
Her companion immediately raised the alarm. Just a few minutes later, a rescue helicopter took off, taking mountain rescuers from Emilia Romagna on board.
The emergency services, who were lowered from the helicopter to the scene of the accident, found that the young woman was still showing weak signs of life. However, she died just a few moments later while the paramedics were fighting for her life.
Valentina Fino came to Bolzano in 2020, when the corona pandemic was at its peak. She lived in the South Tyrolean capital for about a year.
