The police appointed a health worker (nakes) with the initials EO as a suspect in the injection case empty vaccine in Pluit, North Jakarta.
The incident of injecting the blank vaccine was circulating on social media. The vaccination is said to have taken place at the Ipeka Pluit Timur school.
“The EO’s sister, who is a health worker, was successfully arrested during the injection according to the viral video,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Yusri Yunus, to reporters, Tuesday (10/8).
Yusri said that EO is a nurse or health worker who was asked to become a volunteer vaccinator.
“This EO woman has a classification for injecting or vaccinating,” said Yusri.
In this case, the police also confiscated a number of pieces of evidence. Among other things, syringes, vials, and other equipment used in the vaccination process.
Yusri said that currently investigators from the North Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim are still investigating the EO’s motive for injecting empty vaccines.
In this case, EO was charged with Article 14 of Law No. 4 of 1984 concerning Infectious Disease Outbreaks.
Previously, the Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Vaccination of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Siti Nadia Tarmizi said that the injection of the empty vaccine in Pluit was suspected to have occurred due to the negligence of the vaccinator.
“This is why it is a mistake to take an injection that has not been filled with the vaccine,” said Nadia, her nickname, as quoted from Between Tuesday (10/8).
Nadia revealed, the vaccinator is known to work as a nurse at Graha Kedoya Hospital, North Jakarta.
Nadia also said that due to the incident, the Ministry of Health together with the DKI Jakarta Health Office had cut off cooperation with the vaccinator
“Currently, the person concerned is no longer allowed to become a vaccinator and we also ask the person in charge to monitor this more,” he said.
