“I’m living a healthy life now and I don’t particularly like it and because I don’t particularly like it, I’m not in a good mood. And because I’m not in a good mood, I’m in a bad mood. And because I’m in a bad mood, I’m an ass!” Actually, Mark (Frederick Lau) had imagined it would be easier to calm down his life and get his driver’s license back. However, a life like this between excessive Berlin nights and the demanding job as a construction manager leaves deeper marks than expected: Not only did his lifestyle cost him a lot psychologically, he also became a full-fledged professional alcoholic. And one night when he tries to repark his car while drunk, the police knock on the window: rags gone, MPU on his neck. He promises his best friend Nadim (Burak Yigit) that he won’t drink another drop of alcohol until he gets his driver’s license back. However, his new friend Helena (Nora Tschirner), whom he made during the sessions, doesn’t really believe in it – and not without reason. “One For The Road” is a stirring fight back to life and a movingly honest story about how difficult it is to let go of old habits and admit problems.
