A family consisting of father, mother and two children died in the incident deadly accident Bus PO Ardiansyah in Surabaya Toll Road-Mojokerto, Monday (16/5). They were buried in one grave.
Didik Karyono, Head of RW I Benowo Village, Pakal District, Surabaya, said that a family actually consists of a father, mother and three children. Four people were declared dead, while one other child survived despite his injuries.
“One family, consisting of a husband and wife and two children. Meanwhile, one child is safe,” said Didik, Monday (16/5).
He added that the four bodies buried in one grave were Titis Hermi, Soni Suprayitno, Stevani Gracia, and Steven Arthura.
“The four of them were buried in one grave. One child, Stella, is still being treated,” said Didik.
Didik said the plan was for 13 residents who were victims of the deadly accident to be buried today at the local cemetery. Meanwhile, another victim was buried in Gresik, East Java.
“All are buried as soon as possible. 13 people are here. Meanwhile, six have been buried, less than seven. There is one in Gresik,” he said.
The fatal accident of a bus containing 25 passengers occurred on the KM 712+400 Toll Road line A Surabaya – Mojokerto, Monday morning.
The incident began when Bus PO Ardiansyah with Nopol S 7322 UW was carrying 25 passengers from Benowo, Surabaya, from the direction of Jogja to Surabaya.
It is suspected that the bus driver named Ade Firmansyah was traveling at a speed of about 100 kilometers per hour in the slow lane. However, when the bus arrived at km 712,200 /A, the vehicle swerved to the left and hit the VMS (Variable Message Sign) pole on the side of the toll road shoulder. The bus bounced and overturned.
As a result of the incident, 13 passengers died on the spot, and then one other passenger died at the hospital. While dozens of others suffered serious injuries.
The seriously injured victim was rushed to the Petrokimia Gresik Hospital, Citra Medika Hospital, then the EMMA Hospital in Mojokerto City. Meanwhile, those who died were evacuated to Wahidin Soediro Husodo Hospital, Mojokerto and Sakinah Hospital, Mojokerto.
