One dead, three wounded in shooting in the Bronx

One man was killed and three others wounded in a shooting in the Bronx on Friday afternoon, according to police reports.

The shooting happened at the corner of East Tremont and Hughes avenues in the Tremont neighborhood around 2:30 p.m., according to police.

The fatality was a 24-year-old man who was shot in the chest.

A second victim was also shot in the chest, a third, 36, shot in the ankle, and a fourth victim, 58, shot in the buttocks.

The 24-year-old was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital shortly after the shooting. His name was not immediately released.

The second victim, who was shot in the chest, is in critical condition, while the other two are in stable condition, according to police.

Police initially said the suspect, who was wearing an olive-colored plaid long-sleeved shirt, had fled. Later however, he said that he had arrested a suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
