One person died Thursday and several others were injured, four seriously, in a shooting at a furniture store in Texas.
The prime suspect in the shooting, a 27-year-old, has been arrested by police, according to a tweet from the Bryan Town Police Department.
He was employed at the furniture maker where he opened fire, Police Chief Eric Buske said.
“At approximately 2:30 p.m. we were informed of a shooting, (…) the agents intervened and found several victims on the spot”, had related the spokesman of the police force of Bryan.
“One person died on the spot,” said Mr Buske, adding that four other victims were taken to hospital “in critical condition”.
Bryan Police Department has confirmed a total of seven victims, including one with a minor injury and another with a separate “incident-related” medical condition.
An officer was also shot and wounded while pursuing an individual suspected of being involved in the Bryan shooting, he remains in serious but stable condition, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
The facts came hours after President Joe Biden unveiled targeted measures to the White House to limit the proliferation of guns in the United States, where shootings are a recurring scourge.
