One person was killed and eight others were injured – including three firefighters – at a home in the Bronx, according to authorities.
The four-alarm fire broke out at a two-story home on Valentine Avenue between East 181st and East 182nd streets in Fordham around 9 a.m., FDNY Acting Chief of Fire Operations Richard Blatus said.

Two people were inside the home when the fire started, one of whom was pronounced dead at the scene, Blatus said. The second person was treated for minor injuries.
The name and age of the victim were not immediately released.
Four civilians in a neighboring building and three firefighters also suffered minor injuries, Blatus said. The FDNY initially said two firefighters were injured.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
The Red Cross to the scene, but the number of displaced people was not clear.
The fire was a block away from the site of the deadly Twin Park North West fire, which killed 17 people in January.
