A shooting left one dead and four injured on Thursday at a hotel in a residential area of the American capital, local police reported. Five people with gunshot wounds were taken to hospital after an exchange of fire at a hotel chain early Thursday, police said on Twitter.
“Drug related activities”
“A female victim who was in critical condition has been pronounced dead,” added Washington police, who cordoned off the perimeter for a few hours and opened an investigation. Police were called to the scene around 3:30 a.m. local time when gunshots rang out during a party in a hotel room in a prime area of Washington that hosts many embassies, multiple media reported.
“We have already had complaints from neighbors about this hotel. We have received complaints about drug-related activities, ”said Duncan Bedlion, a police officer, on a local channel. So far, no suspects have been identified.
