Business jets keep flying – so solutions are needed on how to sleep well on board. A company found a way.
The business jet sector is booming. By 2032 alone, around 8,500 new business aircraft worth $274 billion could be delivered, forecasts the aviation company Honeywell in its Global Business Aviation Outlook. The long-haul segment in particular is growing, because modern long-haul business jets are achieving ever greater ranges.
The Bombardier Global 8000, for example, manages 14,600 kilometers, the Gulfstream G650 ER 13,000 kilometers. And since comfort is a big issue in these planes in particular, there must be no compromises when sleeping in the machines. Often, however, there is still a lack of real beds in the otherwise enormously luxurious planes.
Two seats make a bed
The dominant solution at the moment is club seating – comfortable armchairs in which you can sit facing each other. But something can be done with it, thought Primadonna, a company specializing in luxurious aircraft interiors. The company presented a solution for turning two club seats into a bed.
The system is called «Prima Lux Flex Frame Mattress». It consists of three elements: a stool that fits between two individual club or conference seats, and various mattress elements. Together they make a bed. The system is available for single and double beds.
No certification necessary
According to the manufacturer, assembly is quick and easy. The system should be suitable for most large and medium-sized business jets from Bombardier, Dassault, Embraer and Gulfstream. A big advantage: it does not have to be specially certified in order to be able to use it on board.
Components are stored in compression sacks that are custom designed for each operator. If you want to go one step further, you can also buy the matching bed linen from Primadonna.
