Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)– An actress took to the “X” platform (formerly Twitter) to tearfully complain about only one person coming to see her play at the “Edinburgh Festival Fringe”, but she performed in front of a huge crowd the next day, after it was sold out. Almost all the tickets for her show, after the celebrities rushed to console her on social media.
And after the performance of her play, entitled “Sunsets”, in “The Gilded Balloon” in the Scottish capital, Thursday, the actress, Georgie Greer, wrote on the “X” platform: “There was one person in the audience today, when I presented a play consisting of one woman. .. That’s okay, isn’t it?
The post was accompanied by a “selfie” of her crying.
The post, which has so far garnered more than 6 million views, has sparked massive solidarity from celebrities and the general public alike.
During the “X” platform, the Irish comedian and TV presenter, Dara O’Brien, responded to her, saying, “Everyone has been through this situation.”
O’Brien added, “More than once I’ve had to buy my fans a drink as a token of thanks for being the only ones there…the show will get better every time, and it’s ready for the big crowds later.”
Comedian Sarah Millikan agreed with O’Brien, explaining, “It’s totally OK, and it’s natural… Well done for having the audacity to do it. You should feel proud.”
Meanwhile, actor and comedian Jason Manford sent Greer a video clip in which he said, “It’s completely normal for one person to come up to show you… and it’s normal for you to feel a little sad or upset.”
Manford also recalled his own experiences at the festival in 2004, and his feeling of shyness from the small audiences that attended his performances.
The next day was very different for Jarir.
A spokesperson for “The Gilded Balloon” told CNN that nearly all tickets for her show on Friday afternoon were sold out.
