For two years, the number of practicing lawyers in Ourense was less than 700. There are currently 686, which represents the ratio of an active lawyer for every 443 inhabitants, compared to 303,984 residing in the province, according to the latest data from the registry. The number of lawyers who currently do not practice but are registered is higher, with 777 members.
“With six this Thursday and six in June, we are within the average of about twelve oaths each year. In times of pandemic we have had the abandonment of practicing lawyers for which more permanent jobs have arisen, because the crisis affects us like everyone else ”, says the dean of the legal profession of Ourense, Pilar López-Guerrero.
Yesterday the profession celebrated its patron saint, the feast of San Martiño. The act linked the reception of six new lawyers who formalize their association with the recognition of a group of experts. Twenty lawyers reach 25 years of career in 2022. A silver badge and a diploma They remain a reminder of that professional milestone.
The new lawyers who register in Ourense are Marcos Vázquez Blanco, Ana Isabel González Fernández, Ana Asensio Bravo, Alejandro Dopereiro Domínguez, Alejandro Naveiras Cernadas and Gabriel Guntín Garrido.
Accompanied by their godfathers or godmothers, they took the oath or promise, wearing the toga as a symbol of welcome to the profession, undertake to respect the law and the code of ethics.
Veterans reaching a quarter century in law enforcement this year are Maria Elisa Taboada Gonzalez, Rafael Vallés Urriza, Dew of the Dawn Castro Prieto, Maria del Pilar Cortiñas Lorenzana, Maria Sergia Suarez Leal, Lucila Vazquez-Gulias Vazquez, Rosa Elvira Aurora Ana Garcia Estevez, Josefa Gonzalez Alvarez, Stephanie Lama del Corral, Manuel Rodriguez Lopez, Lourdes Carballo Perez, Jose Antonio Fernandez Perez, Carlos Perez Gomez, Juan Manuel Rivero Loren, Michael Angel Quiroga Gayoso, Eduardo Sanchez Gonzalez, Maria Natalia Gonzalez Fidalgo, Rebecca Gonzalez-Tejada Jacome, Luis Gonzalez Perez and Alberto Novoa Rodriguez.
After the act, in which Abelardo Vázquez Conde, a member of the bar association in 1983, gave his vision of the profession, the lawyers culminated the patronal feast of San Martiño with a dinner at the Oca Vila de Allariz hotel.
