A long struggle to obtain the drugs for cancer patients today has an important milestone, the Incan doctors requested a list of drugs necessary for their patients. “In this way, a list of seven new drugs that are added to the basic one of the Ministry of Health is completed, they are: Pertuzumab, Letrozole, Dacarbazine, Pembrolizumab, Trastuzumab with Emtansine, Enzalutamide and Fulvestrant.
Juana recalled that in 2019 they made the requests that were then taken to an evaluation committee to see the number of patients who required the medication. “We resorted to appeals and today with Fulvestrant the list is completed to treat breast cancer in the vast majority but also lung cancer and melanoma.”
The patients welcomed this novelty, from a long process that began 10 years ago, according to the association’s secretary. “Trastuzumab was the first one included by Dr. Julio Rolón in 2015,” he pointed out.

Every drug they get is a huge achievement. “From now on we are campaigning with doctors so that the supply of medicines can be expanded more and more. We have to have the new ones that appear, who are first-rate, innovative and try to be at the forefront ”, said Juana excitedly.

According to our interviewee, “last year there were 450 new cases of breast cancer, and approximately 4,000 people attend the Incan. The doctors and the Directorate made the request and we were the nexus that we hit every day so that today we can have this medicine, “he said.
