Oncology Doctor Calls Covid-19 Vaccine Safe for Cancer Patients, But Must Meet These Conditions

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, TANGERANG – Cancer sufferers are safe to vaccinate against covid = 19, but there are a number of conditions that must be met.

What are the requirements for cancer patients to be vaccinated against COVID-19?

Head of the Indonesian Association of Oncological Surgeons (Peraboi), Walta Gautama explained.

There are at least two main requirements which are essentially related to the condition of immunity and the condition of the disease.

“If the cancer patient is not in a condition of decreased immunity, or is not undergoing therapy that lowers immunity, it is actually not dangerous,” said Walta when met at the Covid-19 vaccination site at The Spring Club Summarecon, Pagedangan, Tangerang Regency, Sunday (8/8). /8/2021).

Walta also highlighted that people with blood cancer tend to have lower immunity.

But for people with solid types of cancer such as breast cancer, thyroid, if the condition is good, then it is safe for vaccination.

“But in solid solid cancers, like breast cancer, thyroid cancer, if they’re in good condition it doesn’t matter if they’re vaccinated.”

He also explained that cancer sufferers who have had years of age have the same risk impact as normal people.
