The National Railways Office (ONCF) announced on Friday the launch of new measures to improve travel on trains.
“In line with the measures already launched, aimed at improving the travel experience, by improving the quality of service in stations and on board trains, the ONCF continues to work to reduce queues at stations and make ticket purchasing more accessible, more flexible and more fluid through new actions,” indicates a press release from the Office.
This includes a more accessible purchasing operation with the launch of a new online seat selection feature, the same source specifies. Thus, since the end of July 2024, it is now possible to choose your favorite seat online for free on board AL boraq and AL Atlas trains. Thanks to this new feature, passengers will be able to select their favorite seat directly from the merchant site “www.oncf-voyages.ma”, thus ensuring an even more personalized and comfortable travel experience.
Customers can choose to be on the upper floor in the lounge, or in the lower lounge (available on Al Boraq), with seating options tailored to individual travellers, such as window seats, aisle seats, or isolated seats in first class, the statement said.
Additionally, customers can book next to a person, friend or relative who already has their ticket by specifying their information when booking to obtain the closest seat depending on availability.
In addition, the ONCF has introduced flexible pricing from August 4, 2024, on the Casa – Rabat local line which will allow, particularly during peak periods, to ensure a better distribution of demand between all ranges of trains serving this line, namely TNR, Al Boraq and Al Atlas.
This approach will allow the ONCF to better rebalance the occupancy rate between the different types of trains, while offering passengers the possibility of choosing the train and the fare that suits them best and thereby reducing the overload on the TNR during peak periods for better comfort and quality of service for all users.
For example, for the Casa – Rabat trip in 2nd class, the customer will have the choice between 3 prices: 40 DH on AL Atlas / 45 DH on TNR / 60 dh on AL Boraq).
At the same time, this approach plans to keep the prices of subscriptions unchanged on all routes, with the aim of encouraging frequent customers to opt for one of the proposed packages (weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual) which offer discounts of up to 60% while ensuring a smooth journey through the station and reducing queues at the ticket offices.
With these actions, the ONCF reaffirms its ongoing commitment to providing quality service and optimizing the use of its resources in order to improve the travel experience of its customers, the press release emphasizes.
