Once Born The Most Deadly Terrorist Group in the World, US ‘Polished’ Soldiers Now Lead Bloody Coup in Mali, US Website Hurriedly Deletes Photo Evidence – All Pages

Intisari-Online.com – For the second time in eight years, a military officer trained US emerges as leaders coup d’etat of Mali.

Reporting from theglobeandmail.com on Sunday (23/8/2020), military officer trained US itself is Colonel Assimi Goita.

Where Colonel Assimi Goita is said to have participated in a US-led exercise last year and passed the course training US in 2016.

Now, he has declared himself a leader coup d’etat who arrested the president and prime minister Maliand want to rule this West African country.

In this regard, a few moments ago there was a photo showing a US military trainer posing with Colonel Goita during training in West Africa last year.

The photo itself was posted on the US website.

It is seen that US officials gave him a certificate from an educational course at a US-German security center in 2016.

But now the photo has been removed from the website without explanation.

Well, before this coup, in 2012 there was also a coup in this country.

At that time, the coup was led by Captain Amadou Sanogo, who received US training on six separate occasions.

His involvement in the coup was “very worrying”, but was later acknowledged by the commander of US Africa Command.

From the two coup cases above, it raises questions about the purpose of the security training program there.

Mali Coup.

Because thousands of Malian soldiers and police have indeed been trained in security sector programs by European and North American military and police forces, including Canada.

But the training failed to prevent the two coups that have rocked the country.

This is because the training does not teach democratic values.

While the governments of western countries themselves have seen Mali as an important battlefield in the war against Islamic radicals.

But a military coup in 2012 only strengthened the Islamic insurgency, and this new coup could even embolden the rebels even more.

You should know, Canada regularly sends military trainers to the annual US-led Flintlock military exercise in West Africa, where Colonel Goita and other Malian military officers were participants last year.

According to the US military, the Flintlock exercises are intended to strengthen the ability of countries in the region to fight violent extremist organizations, protect their borders and provide security for their people.

Over the past 18 months, Canada has also deployed 21 police officers in Mali to provide training to assist the Malian military against an Islamic insurgency.

It’s just that practice doesn’t help.

This is because, according to a study by two scientists, published in the Journal of Peace Research in 2017, it found that US military training programs were associated with a higher risk of coups and coup attempts.

Over a 40 year period, two thirds of successful coups were carried out by officers who had participated in US training.

Even countries with US-trained officers are almost twice as likely to experience a coup or attempted coup.

Partly because the training has increased military strength in relation to the government.

In recent years, multinational training efforts in Mali have grown.

But they remain flawed and ineffective, failing to prevent human rights violations by Mali forces.

The proof is that powerful terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and the Taliban were born out of this failed military training program.
