According to Baiba Bože, the director of “OratoriO”, the show was played only a few times, having its premiere at the end of last year – before the state of emergency came into force.
In the performance, roles have been assigned to an unprecedented ensemble of actors on the same stage – Esmeralda Ermale, Ilze Trukšāne, Raimonds Celms, Juris Kalniņš, Jānis Skans, Jana Herbsta and Maksims Busels. The composition of the actors differs on different days of the show.
Sean Grenan’s play “Now and Then” is presented as an incredible story of man’s will, choices and love through the years, pondering the question of who is ultimately what determines our destiny: “It tells of the elusive flow of time in which people moves forward as can, lives and makes choices, in a daily hurry the days run unnoticed, and one after another passes for another decade 30, 40, 50, 60 … And with the memories of everything experienced and achieved comes the experience of dreams, But what if you could change it all? If you could whisper something to a younger person? Would you use it? And… If so, what would you say? What would change if you had chosen to go the other way at the crossroads of your life? And would you be willing to sacrifice everything to try to start all over again? “

It has already been reported that this summer the meeting place created by Rēzija Kalniņa and Ainārs Rubikis – the music and drama room “OratoriO” celebrates its first birthday, offering several new productions.
On August 3 and 4, Ronald Harwood’s tragic comedy “Quartet” will be shown with Latvian theater grandmasters: Mārtiņš Vilsons, Guntis Virkavas, Indra Burkovska and Juris Kalniņš in the main roles. This is the story of four opera singers who have reached the nursing home and are going to stage Giuseppe Verdi’s concert program together. In the middle, of course, when dealing with existential issues – about aging and leaving the stage of life, the desire to be necessary.
The creators of the music and drama room “OratoriO” have started cooperation with Mikhail Chekhov’s Riga Russian Theater and are jointly implementing the project “Meeting Point. Meeting place. Место встречи.”. Two performances have been made within the framework of the cooperation. The performance of Asya Voloshin’s play “Mom” directed by Ināra Slucka with Ekaterina Frolov in the role of Olga is a story about growth and acceptance of generations. The premiere is expected on August 13, the next performance – on August 15.
In turn, the show “paraDIZZY” is a study of the world of women and men, where movement and sound are one whole. Choreographer and director Inga Krasovska has gathered Latvian and Russian-speaking actors in her performance show: Aija Andrejeva, Zani Dombrovskis, Vitalija Jakovļevs and Aleksandrs Malikovs. The premiere is expected on August 27, the next performance – on August 28.
“OratoriO” is located in the Sports 2 quarter (Sporta Street 2, Riga) – in the former territory of the confectionery factory next to the contemporary art center “Kim?”, The foundation “Easy”, the bar “Zefir” and other creative residents.
