The TV Marktheidenfeld clearly won the local derby of the men’s basketball district league against Karlstadt as in the first leg and ended the season in fourth place.
TV Marktheidenfeld – TSV Karlstadt 85:52 (40:24). – As in the first leg (105:71 for Marktheidenfeld), the TVM was more balanced on Thursday and more dangerous in all positions. Karlstadt was again only six and had to do without a substitute due to an injury in the second half. This developed more into a game with a training character.
The regular season is over for Karlstadt. Marktheidenfeld still has to go to table sixth Oerlenbach. Thanks to a strong second half of the season, the TVM took fourth place behind the top teams TG Würzburg, Veitshöchheim and FT Würzburg. TVM manager Daniel Barthel was satisfied with the season: “Our season got off to a slow start because we had to keep changing the line-up. Our youth players have proven to be a reliable support and are now fully integrated. We have repeatedly shown that we can still hold our own against the top teams with a top line-up.«
Karlstadt is in seventh place, ahead of Oberdürrbach and the last-placed team from Lohr due to withdrawal. TSV coach Sebastian Kunz was also basically satisfied, even if players were absent due to injuries: “Today’s game was significant because we had to do without two regular players again at short notice. This runs like a red thread through the season. But despite our average age of over 40, we still have the potential to play in the highest Lower Franconian league, even if there is always a risk of a significant slap.”
At the end of the season, Karlstadt is still in the semi-finals for the district cup. Opponent is the master of the BOL, the TG Würzburg. – Top thrower Marktheidenfeld: Ebert 20, Schwab 20, Fleuchaus 11; Karlstadt: Maier 24, Kunz 15, Holzinger 8.
