Wind gusts, high waves and danger warnings. This year’s first autumn storm has calmed down in the north. Now number two hits Western Norway.
–
On Wednesday, there have been strong gusts and a lot of rain in northern Norway.
– The storm started early today, and it is about to decrease here in the north, says on-duty meteorologist Trond Lien at the Meteorological Institute to VG on Wednesday night.

More wind Thursday
He says that there has been a storm in several places on the coast of Western Norway and in Northern Norway on Wednesday. But even though this storm has calmed down, more storms await.
– A new warning has been issued, which applies to the southern part of the country. It’s a new storm. We expect that the strongest wind will be on the coast of Rogaland, and it will typically hit in the middle of the day tomorrow, Thursday, Lien states.
The violent weather is expected to come up in a small – and perhaps full – storm in some places. This means that you must be careful and aware of the weather conditions.
– On land, the wind will degenerate more like gusts of wind. There it often comes a little uneven, and suddenly it increases. Then it is especially important to secure loose objects, meteorologist Lien encourages.
In addition, it warns against high waves:
– Then you should be a little careful, not stand straight on the sea. The waves can get a little scary.
Danger warnings in yellow
The warnings from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute come in the form of danger warnings.
From Frøya in Trøndelag and northwards, danger warnings have been issued which have been valid on Wednesday, while which expires as the wind decreases to varying degrees on Wednesday evening or night until Thursday.
In Western Norway, there are several warnings of gales, storms and strong gusts, dragging Agder in the south to Hordaland in the north-west.
“Loose objects can blow away. Possibility of canceled departures for ferry, plane or other transport. Bridges can be closed. The power supply can be affected, for example as a result of trees breaking or coming into contact with the power grid. », It is stated in the danger warning for Hordaland and Rogaland.
The danger warnings in Western Norway are largely valid until Thursday.
