On Wednesday, the concert program of the Dzegužkalns music park invites you to the concert of the group “Tautumeitas”.

Wednesday, August 14, at At 20.00, the band “Tautumeitas” will play on the stage of Dzegužkalns park during the Riga summer concert cycle, and at the same time. At 19.00 they will be warmed up by the group “Kalnejas”.

“Tautumeitas” is an ethno-pop music group that uses the melodies and lyrics of Latvian folk songs in its music, creating strong harmonies and connecting them with modern beats and sounds, which ‘ creating a magical and powerful Latvian sound.

The group is also creative in creating their visual image – their costumes and crowns show how close traditional and futuristic really are. Several members of the group have studied ethnomusicology, and the influence of folk music from different countries can be seen in the group’s music.

Attendees of the concert will have the opportunity to hear songs from the band’s latest album “Skrejceľš”, as well as other famous songs from the artists’ work. The music of “Tautumeitus” is a ritual, building a bridge to the history of Dzegužkalns itself, where various gatherings have been held since 1875.

“Tautumeitas” will be warmed by the group “Kalnejas”, which plays organized folk songs and its own original music, both with texts created by themselves and using texts from Dainu kapja. The music consists of Marija Valmiera (vocals), Toms Valmiers (bass / double guitar), Spāre Vītola (violin).

Drinks and ice cream stands will be open throughout the concert. Entrance to the concert is free.
