Luckily, her mother was able to stop the attack when she snatched the animal from the girl’s leg.

In an interview with a local CNN affiliate, Rylee shared how she came face-to-face with the animal.

“I went out to catch the bus and suddenly there was a raccoon trying to attack me […] He didn’t want to leave my leg,” she explained.

Her mother, Logan, who was in the kitchen of the house, said she heard her daughter screaming in panic.

“I thought he slammed the door too hard. I didn’t expect to see a raccoon grab his leg at all,” she testified.

For several seconds, Logan bravely held the beast as he protected his daughter from the raccoon.

Rylee escaped with some scrapes on her leg, while Logan suffered an arm injury.

They were transported to the hospital and given the rabies vaccine as a preventive measure.

Rylee and Logan will need to receive additional doses of the vaccine over the next two weeks.

Connecticut authorities are still looking for the beast responsible for the attack. According to local media, the attack took place for no “good reason”.
