Subject still taboo, urinary incontinence yet affects three to six million French people, of all age groups, men and women combined.
To inform the general public and break certain received ideas, the Alençon-Mamers hospital center will provide a green number (free call), Tuesday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Urologist doctors at the end of the line
It will be possible to discuss and ask questions to urologist doctors with this number, 0 800 00 38 61but also via the messaging service of the Facebook page of Chicam.
This initiative is part of the national continence information week, organized since 2003 by the French Association of Urology (AFU), to “inform about urinary function and its dysfunctions, to get out of isolation those who do not dare to talk about their difficulties, to provide concrete answers to everyone’s questions ”, informs the Alençon-Mamers hospital center.
In France, only 10 to 15% of these incontinences are treated. “Out of modesty, out of shame, but also out of fatalism or lack of information, urinary pathologies are too often ignored, neglected and therefore untreated”, indicates Chicam.
